Faecal Egg Counts
Faecal egg counts on horses and sheep.
Service Description
As a qualified Rural Animal technician I am offering a Faecal egg counting service on sheep and horses. Faecal egg counts are a useful tool that can be used to determine if you need to drench or not. Here is how to bring your horse or sheep poo in to me for testing. 1 - Source a fresh sample no older than 12 hours is best. 2- Collect three to four faecal balls and put them into a Zip lock bag with the air squeezed out of it. Make sure the bag is sealed. 3- Label the sample with horses name or sheep ear tag number, your name and sample date was taken. 4- Keep sample refrigerated if not dropping off immediately (samples can be refrigerated up to 5 days DO NOT FREEZE) 5- Drop off before 12pm weekdays to 21 John Street, Balclutha Results will be emailed to you. Please note I only have a drop off option in Balclutha at this stage. Alternatively if I am in your area it could be arranged for me to pick up your samples if it suits my schedule.
